Wedding cakes can range from $3–$15 per serving . Tiered cakes are more expensive than sheet cake styled cakes.

How should we cut our wedding cake?

Traditionally, you’d do a ceremonial cutting first, often holding hands on the knife. The caterer then takes the cake away and cuts it into slices to distribute to guests. If you’re slicing it up yourselves, take apart the tiers and cut them into small rectangles. Remember to wrap and freeze the top layer for your anniversary!

How should we transport our wedding cake?

Very carefully! Ideally, your cake will be delivered by your bakery, which should have plenty of experience transporting cakes. You can also purchase special boxes made to protect the tiers.

When should we order our wedding cake?

Set up tastings (the fun part!) around 7 months out. Once you’ve decided, place your order.

We did a 2 tier marble cake which was amazing, the groom's cake was a Georgia themed Football which was 1 part carrot cake and 1 part red velvet which left us speechless, and the absolute show stopper was the banana pudding cupcakes! Oh my gravy these were the talk of the night! All the cakes were so moist and rich but also decadent and tasted like happiness lol! In regards to Portia herself, I would have to say she is a pleasure to work with! I had at least 3,475 questions throughout the process and she was so patient and understanding and on time!! “Shannon is the best! She made us a giant cake for our wedding, and it was the most beautiful and tasty thing I have ever seen/eaten. We are still getting compliments from our guests about our cake and how awesome it was! Shannon was one of the most easy people to work with, from scheduling our tasting, to mock-ups of the cake vision, to payment. She made it so easy to make sure our dog was on the cake! She is in constant communication with you, which I sincerely appreciated. I never had to worry about our cake making it to where it needed to be or looking perfect! “Going with The Naked Cupcake for our wedding day was a no-brainer. We compared several different places and none of them hit the mark like The Naked Cupcake did. To start, they offer the option of a virtual consultation for the tasting, which makes it super easy and convenient for busy people like my husband and I. You get to pick out 4 different combinations to taste for cupcakes, pick them up, and then schedule a virtual consultation that works for your schedule. After that, it was smooth sailing. I told Alison exactly what I was looking for and she delivered! She was so easy to talk to, flexible to get us what we wanted, and quick! Plus, she was very on top of things making sure our venue got their insurance, communicating with our wedding planner, etc. My husband and I were so happy we went with them. We loved our wedding cake, all the flavors from the tasting were so good we went with pretty much all of them, and they were so kind to leave us a sweet handwritten card with a mini cake for my husband and I to take home (we decided to freeze it and have it on our one year anniversary :)). We selected delivery, and Blush Whisk made sure our cake was at the venue in the appropriate place and time despite some lack of communication from our wedding venue. They went out of their way to create a custom combo for us, and of course, the cake tasted so so good! We got so many compliments! We showed Blush Whisk photos on Pinterest of what we wanted, and they copied it exactly. We ordered a geode cake since our venue was the Perot Museum of Nature & Science, and it was so beautiful! “We ordered our wedding cake from Cakes by Stephanie and worked directly with Tommy, and I truly could not be happier with the entire experience. The cake was a very important part of the wedding for me (I love cake!), so I was really hoping for something delicious and memorable—and they absolutely delivered. We scheduled a wedding cake tasting, and Tommy was wonderful to work with. He explained everything clearly, was incredibly helpful, and made the whole process fun. They had a complimentary tasting prepared for us with six cake flavors and fillings, and every single sample was amazing. They have so many combinations to choose from, and they even offered to let us come back later to try additional flavors if we wanted. That level of kindness, communication, and flexibility meant a lot. On the wedding day, their team coordinated with my florist for adding fresh flowers to the cake, and it turned out incredible—exactly what I imagined. We also rented a cake stand from them for a very reasonable price, which made things even easier. Their policies were straightforward, the staff was friendly, and the whole process was smooth from start to finish. Since the wedding, multiple guests have told me (even months later!) how delicious our cake was. We chose chocolate with hoho cream and white cake with fresh strawberry filling, and both were a huge hit. We also get a fresh cake for our one-year anniversary, which I’m already looking forward to!
