The Sanctuary on Roosevelt Island provided the dreamiest backdrop for our wedding last month! Their entire team went above and beyond for us on our big day. Our friends and family raved about the location, the ambiance, the food, the service. About an hour before our ceremony started, it began to pour outside- and we were meant to have an outdoor ceremony! My husband and I sat in our vintage taxi parked out front of the venue, and watched The Sanctuary staff run around in the torrential downpour to save our ceremony and move everything indoors- and the fact that the rain only put us about 15 minutes behind the original schedule?! I’m still not sure how they managed it. Would also like to send a special shout out to Amelia, who more recently joined the Sanctuary team as event coordinator- she was not part of the team when we first signed out contract, but she proved to be an invaluable resource to us on the day of the wedding. She is a fabulous addition! Alfonso gave us our first tour of the venue that made us fall in love with the space. Frank was so patient and kind and answered all of our questions- and even helped us accommodate a last minute addition guest who was originally too ill to attend our wedding but who luckily recovered well enough to be able to come. Thank you again to the Sanctuary team from the bottom of our hearts for helping make our wedding the most magical and special day of our life!

As soon as we arrived, we were so glad that we had chosen Milton Ridge and knew that we had made the right choice. All of the staff were very welcoming and helpful. They were with us through every step of our wedding day with lots of support and smiles. The cottage for getting ready is very cute, the chapel is beautiful, and the reception hall is great as well. They have many services included in their various wedding packages like catering, DJ, photographer, and cake. They also have outside vendors that they work with frequently, such as hair and make-up and a florist, who are all wonderful. They are inclusive, and they are supportive of LGBT weddings. My now wife and I are part of the LGBT community, and we were treated very well by the entire team. We were able to have our wedding exactly how we wanted, and they worked with us on every detail. On the day, they had the entire day scheduled and kept us on track, which is actually so necessary and helpful on a day when you're trying to do so many things. Review for Blenheim Hill Farm Blenheim Hill Farm was the wedding venue of our dreams. From our very first meeting, the owners, Min and Morten, went above and beyond to make us feel supported and cared for. They were personally involved every step of the way — from answering our endless planning questions, to leading us through the tasting, to being hands-on during our big day. The venue itself is picture perfect: set on over 100 acres of peaceful countryside, it offers both privacy and freedom — we loved that we could have a live band, late-night dancing, and even a custom firework show without worrying about noise ordinances. The charm of the working farm added such a special touch, from guests petting goats upon arrival to enjoying eggs fresh from the coop at our Sunday brunch. The food was absolutely incredible — so many of our guests told us it was the best wedding meal they’ve ever had. And when light rain threatened our outdoor ceremony, Min and Morten worked tirelessly to hold off the rain plan until the last possible moment; the skies cleared just in time, and their team quickly ensured every seat was dry and perfect. One small note for future couples: plan your guest transportation carefully. We had guests staying in Windham, which added a bit of stress with bus logistics — in hindsight, we’d recommend nearby Airbnbs or closer towns. Still, everything about our experience at Blenheim Hill Farm was magical, and we’re endlessly grateful to Min, Morten, and their team for helping us create a day we’ll cherish forever.

Nicole had every detail planned, thought through, and executed with absolute professionalism. Her preparation and calm confidence made us feel completely at ease. She truly went above and beyond to make the entire experience stress-free, and we are forever grateful. The food was also exceptional. Everything was delicious, but the hors d'oeuvres were unforgettable—we still talk about how we want to go back just to enjoy them again! The service throughout the entire event was unbelievable as well. From myself and the groom to our bridal party and every single guest, no one had to worry about a thing. The staff kept everything running smoothly and seamlessly. My partner Sky and I had the dream summer wedding we envisioned at Seven Ponds. For our wedding we wanted to emulate these weekend trips we do upstate with a close group of friends and just make it bigger to include our family. Seven Ponds farm provided our two requirements of what we were looking for - a big house that could fit all our friends and a swimming pond right on the property. We also really appreciated that we didn't need to hire a wedding planner and could utilize the venues resources for all the planning aspects. We really appreciated how the Seven Ponds staff let us do our own thing throughout the weekend for a really relaxed environment, but then whenever we needed them they were right there helping with things like doing a practice run of the ceremony and answering specific questions about the house etc. It was also so wonderful that the staff were able to handle things like setting up the tables and the candles for us for the wedding dinner. Overall the forms and calls for the planning process were really helpful. We did have a little frustration at the wedding tasting as we thought it was an opportunity to ask questions about the food and overall found out that they really don't want you asking many questions and would prefer you to just read the written packet they provide without interacting in person with questions. I would also recommend being well versed on the packet you purchased as they won't be able to answer questions about what packet you bought. This was a bit different than we expected and knowing what I know now I might recommend not bringing family or friends to the tasting or otherwise just preparing them to just fill out the paperwork quietly as us not realizing this made for a more difficult tasting experience. There was also one staff member at the tasting who was a bit rude to our family members and I was so worried that this negative energy would be reflected at our wedding so I asked for a different wedding coordinator to lead our wedding. Overall the impersonal nature of the tasting also just made me really worried that the wedding would have the same feel and so I wanted to include this to note that while the tasting process wasn't as personal this was not the case at the wedding and the wedding atmosphere was really lovely. After the tasting I asked for Rosie to be our lead wedding coordinator as she had a much warmer energy and I can't recommend Rosie enough. She truly made our wedding experience. If you're looking for a wedding coordinator who has a graceful upbeat energy, stays calm and is easy to communicate with definitely ask for Rosie. There was a big storm on the day of our wedding and Rosie was so helpful staying calm and telling me to not loose hope about doing the ceremony outside. Morten was also really great with a specific weather device he had that allowed us to see when we had a good window to do the ceremony outside and very happy to say it all worked out and we got our dream outdoor ceremony. Overall I really got the wedding I dreamed of and we had such a relaxed and personal atmosphere. We really appreciated all the work the staff did to set up the wedding which allowed us to really just have fun, enjoy and not worry about logistical details. We so appreciated the flower package the venue provided for setting up the flowers and the bonfire packages. Overall we loved our wedding so much and are so happy we went with Seven Ponds! :)

From our first walkthrough at Riverview ballroom with Stefania to the end of the wedding, everyone at the venue was amazing - helpful, accommodating, and a pleasure to work with. The space was immaculate, with beautiful views and multiple areas that worked perfectly for each part of the celebration, including a lovely outdoor ceremony ( chuppah) space. The many inclusions were a real bonus and made planning much easier: staging, chairs, tables, professional staff, bars, and valet service - which was greatly appreciated by our guests! Our band and party planner both found the venue extremely easy to work with, which truly contributed to a smooth and well-run event. We also used the venue’s recommended kosher caterer, Elite, and they did an outstanding job. The location is ideal—close to the city, easy to reach by car or public transportation. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect venue for our daughter’s wedding.

The North Shore House helped my husband and I host the best wedding ever! The staff is truly exceptional (and all of our guests agree). Diane, our bridal attendant, was AMAZING and helped with quite literally everything we needed. Our entire bridal party is still raving about how helpful she was and how she made getting ready such a breeze. The wait staff and bartenders were so attentive and gracious to us and our guests. They helped us with anything we needed all night long. It's clear that Louise is truly an amazing maître d'. Everything was coordinated perfectly. We are so appreciative of her helping our friends get a ride home and getting the bus company to pick up guests from our smores afterparty early when the rain picked up. We can't not talk about the food. THE FOOD! Everything we ate was so delicious! Hats off to the chef! Our guests have been raving about the food, and not just about one thing, but everything! The lamb lollipops were a hit, and people also loved the pumpkin ravioli and the dumplings. The steak and chicken duet was superb. We've never had steak at a wedding that was so juicy and flavorful. People even shared how much they loved the salad. My husband and I are eager to dine at the restaurant to re-create our incredible evening. Stefanie is a great pastry chef. That cake was incredible. From the decoration to the texture and flavor, everybody told us it was amazing. All the kids kept asking when the cake would come and we're sure they weren't disappointed! We are so glad we decided to do an after-party. The staff made sure it was a fun and chill way to end our night. The inn was so luxurious. The beds were comfortable, and the rooms were clean. We had such fun hanging out in the library late into the night. And what a wonderful spread of pastries, yogurt, and coffee to wake up to. We have to thank Louise again for coming over early in the morning to help us get the last of our things together. Tim was also very helpful during the months leading up to the wedding working with our guests. That was seriously a masterclass in hospitality. Thank you! Samantha is an excellent event coordinator. We can't thank her enough for working with us, answering all our questions, and accommodating our requests. All the details like handling the kegs, vegan/kosher marshmallows, working around the kosher catering, and the endless intricacies of a Jewish wedding. Thank you for accommodating the kosher catering for our guests. I know they truly appreciated it. Everything was just as it should have been and executed with grace and expertise. Thank you for taking such good care of us. We heard from many of our guests that everything from A-Z about this wedding was exquisite and we couldn't agree more. Loulu Palm Farm Estate was absolutely breathtaking and the perfect place for our wedding. I had only done a virtual tour beforehand, and while it looked beautiful online, it is even better in person—truly stunning and it did not disappoint at all. Everyone keeps saying how gorgeous the location is. Adding Ashley as our wedding coordinator was hands down the best decision we made. She is a must. Ashley helped me so much throughout the planning process, always answering questions and guiding us every step of the way. On the wedding day, when our baker completely forgot to make our wedding cake, Ashley immediately stepped in, coordinated a replacement cake, secured us a full refund, and truly advocated for us. She even encouraged the baker to send an apology gift—we ended up finding a treat box waiting for us at our hotel after the wedding. Ashley went above and beyond, and her support made all the difference. Loulu Palm Farm Estate is a gorgeous venue, and with the right coordinator, it becomes an unforgettable experience. We had the most amazing time at Diamond Mills Hotel! The venue is BEAUTIFUL, and the staff is wonderful to work with. My husband and I also loved exploring Saugerties! Planning a wedding in two months was challenging, but booking Diamond Mills for our wedding venue was the best decision ever! We loved working with Stephanie, Carrie, and Brianne. They are highly organized and professional. Our wedding day was truly magical! Our guests had a wonderful time! We also really appreciate how the staff working on the day of our wedding ensured that my husband and I ate well (and remembered to eat as we interacted with our guests). The food served was delicious and we loved our wedding cake! Another great thing about booking the wedding at Diamond Mills is that the hotel is attached to the wedding venue - it was very convenient for us and our guests! We received a good discount for our hotel block. The wedding package they offer at Diamond Mills Hotel is truly well-rounded! Beautiful venue with indoor and outdoor spaces, catering, open bar, wedding cake, and supportive and amazing staff to help you plan your wedding and ensure that everything runs smoothly during the day of the wedding all for a reasonable price! I used some rental decorations, and the staff made sure to carefully pack everything at the end of the night, so shipping and packing up the following day was easy! We highly recommend Diamond Mills!

How much do wedding & reception venues cost?

The cost of wedding venues varies, with factors influencing cost including size, location, guest count, and, most importantly, whether things like catering and rentals are included. The more a reception venue near you includes, the higher the cost. When considering venues, try to compare prices apples-to-apples. If one venue includes catering and rentals in their pricing and the other doesn’t, you need to figure out how much additional cost those outside vendors would be to make a true comparison. Before booking, be sure you’re aware of additional costs outlined in your contract, like parking fees and weather-related considerations (adding a tent, etc.).

What questions should we ask wedding venues?

When talking with a potential venue, always ask about 1) their availability and 2) their capacity. Some popular venues book up peak season Saturdays nearly 2 years in advance—if your first choice date isn’t available, consider your flexibility on day of the week and year.
