The Voyaging Alchemist: Mobile Coffee and Cocktail Bar
I began my work as a barista when I moved to Chicago from Florida for my BFA. I fell in love with the energy of the city and of my little shop. From drink design to customer service to simple conversations that left all involved with a grin. Sadly, that little shop closed and I decided to make the move from coffee to cocktails. I spent the next year working my way from bar back to main bartender. With my new title came new adventures in event coordination, and cocktail design. Which brings us to today, where I have the privilege of working with couples to create unique drinks that have their guests coming back for more.
I named my business "The Voyaging Alchemist" because I love to create new drinks. My goal for every wedding is to create two drinks that no one could order at a regular bar, representing the couple so well guests are reminded of them with every sip. Because I love creating drinks so much, specialty cocktails are included in every package at no additional cost. No two events should be the same. It’s about more than just the drinks: it’s about bringing an experience to life for my clients. Amazing drinks, amazing customer service, and everything customized so you only pay for what you want.

We focus on a custom-tailored experience for everyone, so you only pay for what you want. Starting with two custom specialty cocktails, created based on a series of questions I ask you, to represent you and your fiancé. Two bartenders, well-trained in customer service and knowledgeable in the art of mixology. Plus, we bring essentials like our bar tools, cups, napkins, straws, and ice. From here, you can decide what add-ons you'd like to truly have a unique and magical experience like no other.

If you book us for another event (wedding shower, bachelor/bachelorette party, etc.), you receive a 10% discount on each event. This includes my mixology class!

Laura with the voyaging alchemist saved our wedding day! We had a friend who was going to bartend for us and they dropped out less than 2 weeks before the weeding. The voyaging alchemist had bartenders available and did a great job! Everyone loved the drinks and enjoying interacting with the bartenders. We would absolutely recommend them to anyone for their wedding!

Let’s be real- good bartenders are a MUST when it comes to wedding planning. This service honestly was the highlight of my wedding, I kept hearing from my guests how great the drinks were and how friendly the service was. They come PREPARED and do an excellent job, they even made an incredible signature drink for each of us! Also if not everyone in your party drinks this is a GREAT option, because let me tell you the mocktail and coffee game is STRONG. If I had to plan all over again I would book them in a heartbeat!!

We hired Laura to bartend for our holiday Open House which entailed serving 60 people over 4 hours as well as creating 2 seasonal drinks "Muletide Greetings" and ""Good Tidings of Gin" (both with or without alcohol). We had never had a bartender before and it turned out to be the hit of the party. Guests loved the drinks as well as her personable, professional service and Jan and I especially loved that we didn't have to worry about refilling drinks and could just chat and laugh with all of our company. We are definitely going to bring Laura back for our next big event in the summer. She worked with us in advance to plan the drink menu and shopping list and arrived an hour early and set up a professional, welcoming, festive bar and her holiday (pictured). She kept the bar clean and orderly and when things got slow circulated to ask people what they wanted. She also has the perfect personality - pleasant and professional and not over the top gabby. It is all about featuring the home and family and not her. She left the bar as clean as when she came and bottom line, we could not have asked for more. She earned and deserved our highest rating and recommendation.
