I love how exciting and creative wedding photography can be while also giving me the opportunity to create something that is so meaningful to others. I got started with photography back in Michigan as a kid with my mom's old Minolta SLR. It wasn't until years later at art school in Kansas City that I realized how fulfilling and exciting wedding photography could be. It has been my focus ever since.

I am a documentary style wedding photographer, specializing in off camera lighting. I once had a client describe me as a "stealth ninja", which I kind of love. My favorite pictures are always the candid moment where you can see the love and connection in everyone's eyes. I am happy to be a fly on the wall and capture a million details, but I also love to be creative and play with beautiful lighting. I'm a bit of a romantic at heart, and I am a sucker for dramatic portraits. If you have a little time just before sunset on your wedding day, I would love to create an amazing portrait that will light up your wall for a lifetime.

Asa was perfect for our winery wedding!
Asa was the perfect wedding photographer. He was professional and passionate about photography, with the gear necessary to shoot both our outside wedding and a nighttime reception in a FULLY GLASS building! Originally we were very worried this was going to cause major glare issues-- but Asa handled it with ease and there were no issues at all! Asa was easy to work with-- he responded to emails very promptly, answered all of our questions, came to our walkthrough to help us scout out locations and was extremely helpful in pointing out small details I would have missed. He did an excellent job balancing our desire for beautiful photos and the fact that my husband and I do not typically love having our photo taken., and he made us both feel extremely comfortable and taken care of! Asa's portrait photos and more documentary photos were both amazing, but we loved that he was a mostly documentary-style photographer that captured the genuine and candid moments of every part of our wedding. He did convince us to do a small shoot at sunset (he was very flexible on doing this longer or shorter, to our comfort level on stepping away, and timed it perfectly), and they are some of my favorite photos of us from the wedding! Even though we were running behind schedule and had not booked Asa for the full reception, he was able to capture all aspects of the wedding, including the cake cutting which was way later than expected. In doing cost comparisons for the DC area, we found that Asa had very budget friendly options available. He also returned our photos really quickly. We could not recommend him more highly for any couple getting married!

Amazing Photos and Such a Pleasure!
I highly HIGHLY recommend Asa! He and his colleague photographed our December '24 wedding and they did an AMAZING job. Asa has such a calming presence and on such a chaotic and stressful day it was so, so needed. He was so wonderful to work with in the planning and helped us make a thoughtful plan to ensure we got all of the photos we wanted. We had a traditional Catholic mass and he and his colleague were able to easily follow all of the Church's rules while capturing the essential moments flawlessly. We got every photo we wanted during the mass which was incredibly impressive. We also got shots at sunset by the water and Asa perfectly captured our vision! These are some of our favorite photos. He also captured all of the energy and fun that we had and we walked away with multiple photos of every single one of our guests which was such a treat. Lastly - his pricing is so fair and really competitive to all the photographers we got quotes from. He was easily able to work with our budget and was flexible to our specific needs. Overall - I would HIGHLY highly recommend Asa!

Highly Recomended!
As a DJ I work with many different photographers, yet there are a only a few who stick out as being great at what they do, Asa is one of them! He's super attentive to the details and also pays attention to the big picture which is very helpful at an event as dynamic as a wedding. You know someone is experienced when they show up early, relaxed and with a smile on their face, all signs of a true professional. As for his photos, well they are simply awesome!

Wonderful photographer!
Asa is an absolutely amazing photographer to work with. My husband and I booked him for our wedding back in 2017, and we loved our photos so much that I invited him to be a preferred partner at a new event venue I helped open in 2019. He does wonderful work with lighting in particular. As a bride, he made us feel very natural, and we had a lot of fun with our photo session. I highly recommend him for wedding and family photography!
