Hi Leah, I’m sorry this experience ended the way it did. My goal is always for couples to feel supported and excited throughout their wedding planning process. To clarify for anyone reading, the concern stemmed from a misunderstanding regarding the location for the complimentary engagement session. No final location had been confirmed, and when scheduling conflicts arose within my standard travel radius, I offered options to either keep the session in Lansing, adjust the timing that day, or select another date. Unfortunately, the situation escalated and it became clear that it would be best for both parties to move forward separately prior to the wedding. Although my contract states that retainers are non-refundable because they reserve the wedding date, I chose to return the $200 deposit so the couple could move forward with another photographer without additional stress. I did communicate that the refund would be processed once I returned home from travel, but I take responsibility for not sending it as quickly as I should have due to being out of town with family. As soon as I received the follow-up message, the refund was immediately issued. I truly wish you both the best and hope your wedding day is everything you’re hoping for.
