I grew up running around after my mom in her gardens and spent most of high school in the art department. I went off to design school and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design. Soon after, I started my first “real” design job and have been working in the industry in either commercial or residential design ever since, giving me thirty-five years of design experience. A second related career in Floral Design was added to my skill set when I was employed as a part-time floral designer and trained at Longwood Gardens. I decorated twenty-one Christmas trees that year and did a lot of beautiful custom designs.

I'm Doreen, the owner of Heritage Flower Design. I've been styling and designing florals for weddings since 2018. I’m a mom of three boys, who are now grown and have their own families. I’m blessed with three beautiful daughters-in-law who help me with larger events. And, my three little granddaughters are my joy! I want this business to be a heritage for them! I could not do what I do without the support of my husband, Mark! He’s the guy who carefully loads all the flowers and makes sure I have everything I need on your wedding day! We are truly a family team at Heritage Flower Design and we can't wait to serve you!

My earliest memories are always centered around picking flowers in my mothers gardens. I would grab one of the glass bottles she collected and play around with any flowers I could find. Flower design is my passion. My shop is located in our 150 year old barn that in itself is full of character. I try to be a vendor who is easy and fun to work with. I am human and understand money does not grow on trees so I try my hardest to work within the client's budget. Each bouquet I create tells a story, each unique beautiful.

Tara has been a long time flower lover and plant geek. Growing up she was a rambunctious toddler and decided to get a head start in the horticulture industry by eating her mothers house plants. This mostly resulted in the poison control center being called repeatedly, but also instilled in her the love of all things "green and growing".
