Emily was by the far the best wedding coordinator out there! She is amazing and I would strongly recommend her. I honestly don’t know what I would have done without her. I was very indecisive about a lot of stuff but she helped talk me through it and figure it out. There was a lot of wedding details I never knew about that she educated me on and pointed me in the right direction. She created a timeline and a vision board which we all really appreciated and felt was very helpful. We were in contact all the time and often times we spoke every day. Her contacting the vendors and being the point of contact for me was a blessing, especially the day of. I was able to fully enjoy my wedding day knowing she was there. She never missed a beat. She is dedicated to this and you can tell its her passion.

We first visited The Market at Grelen in the middle of December, and immediately knew that if it could look that beautiful in winter, it was going to be amazing for our October wedding. We had no idea how right we were. Grelen is filled with so much nature, is incredibly peaceful, and unbelievably gorgeous at all times of the year. The clear-top tent was a showstopper and all of our guests remarked how unique and beautiful it was, especially with the string lights. We were able to use almost all of the grounds for the most spectacular photos, from the greenest fields to their apple orchards and more. But most importantly, our ceremony location (the Berry Lawn) was just perfect. We had a smaller wedding with 80 guests and they fit so comfortably there, though the space could easily fit 150 at least. It was just the most beautiful location to get married, with the rolling mountains behind you as you say your vows. Their team was helpful from the very first day we stepped foot on the grounds, through all the wedding planning, and the wedding weekend itself. They sent us recommendations on vendors (which help us build our dream team -- they were all amazing!), kept us up to date on everything going on at the venue and shop (which has really good food, by the way. We had lunch there with our wedding party families before the wedding rehearsal), and double confirmed all details the week before the wedding. We also stayed at their 118 Suite property and really loved it! Also, they let you use some of their flowers and trees! This helped us save a bit on florals and really elevated every location. Our favorite were the magnolia trees in the tent :) Overall -- you will have an absolutely stunning wedding if you get married at Grelen!

We held our ceremony down by the pond and guests could watch the sun set over the changing trees and water as they had drinks. The lodge feels intimate and cozy at night; the dance floor was expansive and welcoming; and guests who wanted fresh air could enjoy the bonfire Enjoying time with our families who stayed in the cabins the next morning was a special bonus. Grand or intimate, focused on tradition or leaning toward trendy, your vision along with our capable guidance will reflect your personal style. Our staff is committed to details, offering unique options, bringing creativity and passion to the planning process.

We cannot recommend The Local - both the restaurant and their catering team - highly enough! We got married on November 1 at Eastwood Farm and Winery in Charlottesville. The Local's catering services were exceptional from start to finish and truly elevated our entire wedding experience. I had no idea how complex the catering process for a wedding could be, but The Local guided us through every step with ease. We opted for a sit-down dinner with grilled chicken, fried chicken, or steak, served with green beans and fingerling potatoes. The food was delicious, beautifully prepared, and perfectly warm when served, even on a chilly fall day! Our catering coordinator, Eleanore, was absolutely fantastic. From our tasting, to helping us select rentals through MS Events, to the final walkthrough at the venue, and being on-site the day of, she was thoughtful, organized, energetic, and genuinely fun to work with. Her experience showed in everything she did. Knowing that The Local had worked many weddings at Eastwood also gave us so much peace of mind. They knew exactly how the day should flow, and it showed, and they worked cohesively with our planner and venue staff. Eleanore and the entire team went above and beyond in every way. If you’re considering The Local for your event or wedding, do it. They’re an absolute standout.

My now husband and I toured the venue in the Fall of 2024 while the new event space was in the process of getting built. Lori was amazing at keeping me updated on the progress and the finished product turned out amazing. I enjoyed working with the entire Hardware Hills team and would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for an event space. The bridal suite is so beautiful and easily accommodated my bridal part of 6 plus other members of my family that was getting ready there that day. The groom and his groomsmen enjoyed getting to relax at the cottage the morning of the wedding. Everything was so amazing! If you're looking for a wedding venue, definitely check this place out.

Jack is a longtime Charlottesville-Albemarle resident, and currently lives in "downtown" Crozet. He's been a full time photographer in Charlottesville's wedding community for 20 years. Specialties include surprise engagements, and weddings ranging in size and complexity from elopements with a handful of guests, to multi-day celebrations with many hundreds of guests.

Jack is so wonderful. From our first call, we knew that he would be our guy. He is so laid back yet still professional. It was easy for all of our guests to approach him for photos if they wanted. He kept an eye on the sunset and whisked us away for a few amazing shots. He quickly got the obligatory family shots out of the way, very painlessly. He even suggested another local place to go for our first look that was more private and so beautiful. He really looks out for you and what you want. Also, he works insanely quickly. He is really fast to reply to emails as well. You cannot go wrong with Jack. He did such a great job and helped us to relax. HIGHLY recommend him. Book him already!!

Hi there. I originally hail from Georgia, but am so happy to now call Charlottesville my home. When I'm not chasing down perfect sunlight, you can usually find me tucked away somewhere with a book, writing, enjoying life with my partner Charles, styling my 1920s home, or snuggling with my Frenchie pup, Finny.

Awarded Best of Zola
Audra Jones was, to put it simply, the perfect person to photograph our wedding. We knew what we wanted - a small, intimate gathering of our closest friends and family, full of life and personality, but none of the hassle weddings are usually known for. But finding a photographer who could capture that feeling seemed like a challenge - until we met Audra. She didn't just capture the most important moments of our big day, she felt like part of them. She was incredibly professional and courteous throughout the entire event, nimbly bouncing around the ceremony to capture the perfect pictures without obstructing anyone's view. And when it came time for the real party to begin, she effortlessly blended into the crowd as they danced the night away during the reception. Her secret? She danced right alongside our guests! We received so many compliments from friends and family alike, praising Audra's ability to make them feel comfortable as she snapped their photos. Audra was a joy to work with in every aspect of planning our wedding. She had a vision but was always willing to collaborate, she was well organized but never strict, and she was so quick to get finished photos back to us, without sacrificing quality. If you're looking for a photographer for your wedding, we can't recommend Audra Jones Photography enough!

L'etoile Catering
Rating: 5.0 (6 reviews)
  • Caterer
  • Serves Gordonsville, VA

We began serving Charlottesville with French and Virginia-inspired cooking at our restaurant, l’etoile, in 1993. Our catering business grew out of that experience, and out of our desire to take part in the celebrations, the rituals, and the ceremonies of people throughout the Central Virginia community. Catering allows us to reach, care for, and serve a larger audience, and to customize consistently excellent culinary experiences for our clients. We have a history of procuring the finest, freshest ingredients for the meals we create and serve, and access to those ingredients through relationships we’ve cultivated for more than 20 years.

Vickie and Mark of L'Etoile made our wedding incredible from the moment we first started discussions with them. They were incredibly knowledgeable, knowing all of the important logistics that will matter during the day, caring, ensuring that all guests (and the married couple) were fed, and flexible, making changes with us as we moved through the planning process. The food was delicious and our tasting with Vickie and Mark was probably the highlight of our planning process. They worked with various allergies and dietary restrictions and made sure that the night flowed seamlessly. I also want to highlight that Vickie is incredibly kind and supportive of her staff, making sure that they were learning great skills in a supportive environment. As someone who has worked food service and catering before, seeing this made me feel even better about our choice to work with them.

We had our wedding at Boxwood Villa on May 4, 2024, and it was completely perfect. Our family from out of town came a few days early to get settled and prepare, and there was plenty of space for us to spread out and also to hang out together. The beds were insanely comfortable and the accommodations were amazing. While we planned to have the ceremony on the front lawn, the rain had other plans and the team jumped into action and was ready to host our 30 guests on the spacious, gorgeous covered porch. The cocktail hour was held on the first level, and the beautiful house made for some incredible photo opportunities. The lawn was the most amazing place for the tent where our reception was held, and it was just as magical as everywhere else. Everyone commented on how perfect the venue was, including my family. I can't wait to visit again in the future to re-live these incredible memories. Thank you, Boxwood Villa!!!

Hi, lovebirds. I’m Cassidy, a big-hearted type A and perpetual wanderluster. I’m here to take the stress off your shoulders and your timeline off your plate. So you can savor the champagne, the getting-ready playlist, the dinner-then-dancing flow of it all. With a background in ballet and a decade of experience choreographing everything from stage productions to global conferences, I know how to keep things moving beautifully. Planning a wedding isn’t just about wielding clipboards. It’s about intentionally making space for joy- your joy.

Our wedding day wouldn’t have been as magical or extraordinary of a day if it wasn’t for Cassidy. Leading up to the big day, we had numerous calls and chats where she guided us through every step of the way. She made it all so seamless. I’m not quite sure how she does it, but I wasn’t once stressed through the entire planning process. We had multiple zoom calls and I knew she was always a text or call away (even though I tried my best not to bug her after hours!) Once the wedding day came, it all felt like a dream we didn’t want to wake up from. Cassidy and her assistant, Taylor, went above and beyond for us. When I stepped out of the bridal suite and saw the vision to come to life; it was breathtaking. Cassidy also has a few tricks up her sleeve. She brings her oh sh*t kit which has EVERYTHING you could possible imagine and then some. Thankfully, I didn’t have to use it, but I will say, she has something in there for every scenario. She also will bustle your dress and ensure there are no run away Bobby pins! She truly is one of the best and anyone would be lucky to have her as a planner. I not only got my dream wedding, but I also gained a friend!

Wow.. I genuinely don’t even know where to start with Avonlea. My husband and I are still riding our wedding high after our September wedding here. The staff is so kind and so helpful, the entire process was honestly seamlessly! From the moment my husband I stepped on property for our tour, Debbie and Clint made us feel right at home. They sat down and asked questions about us and our vision and you can tell they genuinely love what they do. Our wedding day went so smoothly thanks to them and their team, and the grounds!! The grounds are just absolutely stunning! I love and will cherish this venue for life! I also cannot stop gushing to everyone about Connie, our coordinator. She was honestly the best and cares SO much about her brides and their day going smoothly.. Seriously, Avonlea and their people really make you feel at home!

From developing black and white images in the darkroom to capturing day-to-day happenings as photo manager of the high school yearbook, my camera became an extension of me. I wanted to document the moments of the people I cared about - whether mundane or significant - and create something beautiful. Fast forward ten years and I’ve gone on to complete my Bachelor’s, Master’s, and clinical to become a registered dietitian nutritionist. I’ve had a thriving career at UVA Medical Center for the past five years and witnessed firsthand both the value and fragility of human life.

Lucy was an absolute joy to work with. Her passion for photography and for people shines through in every interaction we had over the course of our planning months. The photos from both our engagement session and wedding are so genuine and full of life! Lucy was always realistic about timelines and deliverables, but was always prompt (if not early!) in presenting them. She obviously does her homework on photo shoot locations, lighting and timing to help her clients understand their best options for photos, but is also willing to be flexible to fit each couple. Her natural talent and know-how gave us great pictures that we will treasure!
