“Matt was extremely helpful with every aspect of the evening. He was such a good MC/DJ. We had rented a neon sign and backdrop from our venue and he spent an hour adjusting his photo booth camera to make sure it would pick up the sign. This photo isn't from his camera, it's form the photographer's, but I wanted to show the backdrop! We also extended him 30 minutes when we decided the party wasn't over yet and he whole heartedly agreed. I would definitely pick him again if I had another event in Estes Park!”

He really took the time to understand our vision of how we wanted our guests to feel at the wedding. Our venue was on a mountain top and logistically challenging. He took this challenge head on and did an outstanding job with the set up and execution of the lighting, stage set up and ceremony audio setup. The lighting and uplighting he provided added so much to our venue and transitioned from romantic at dinner to a party when it was time to celebrate on the dance floor. My daughter gave her playlists, then trusted him to take control, and he did not disappoint. He kept the dance floor full all night long and read our crowd perfectly creating the most fun atmosphere. He was the most amazing DJ for our wedding at the Denver Botanic Gardens, and all of our friends and family have been saying so since we got married. Well, DJ Carbon not only understood it, but he took great care to personalize the music for our wedding. After years working at a luxury entertainment design company in NYC, I noticed a void in live music, one where planners saw music as the background to the main event rather than something that can guide and elevate it. The bands weren’t listening to the room. We should make deliberate music choices based on the people in it, reacting to them. Not the other way around. My desire to create this harmony sparked the founding of Honey+Vinyl in 2013. Ten years in the industry, she began to dive deeper into the science of sound; how lighting, décor, food and timing interact with music, which drove her to establish the Sonic Sommelier™ service.

We're in that era of our lives where we've been to about 100 weddings in the last 10 years, and we can honestly say that no band has even come close to The Hook Club. The Downtown Collective Band was established in 2016 as just a couple of guys who wanted to jam out in the attic. We started by getting some small gigs here and there doing hybrid DJ/live music performances. Then we found friends from music school at UNL that played instruments and made the jam bigger and got more gigs. Now we are known as one of the top bands in the Midwest. We love playing live music because you get a much more authentic experience with people actually playing instruments and connecting with the crowd! He played live cello pre ceremony for all the guests to enjoy that was truly so beautiful. But the live cello as I walked down the aisle is a memory etched into our hearts forever. It was more than music. It felt like the soundtrack to our love story, and it was the most beautiful beginning to the rest of our lives. Then, during cocktail hour, he transformed the atmosphere with looping, beatboxing, and cello in a way that left every single guest completely captivated. People couldn’t stop talking about it, and even now, they’re still telling us it was the most unique and breathtaking performance they’ve ever experienced at a wedding from start to finish. And then there was the saxophonist he brought in during the dance party. pure magic. Together, they created an energy that was electric, soulful, and overflowing with joy. They didn’t just entertain, they touched every heart in the room. Not only was he the most talented cello musician, he absolutely crushed the dance party and played non stop for 3:30 hours. Not one bad song or bad mix. It was absolutely incredible. But what truly sets him apart is how much heart he pours into what he does. Without us even knowing, he recorded our entire ceremony, our cocktail hour, our dance floor, and gifted us not just music, but memories. He allowed us to relive the most important day of our lives again and again. That level of thoughtfulness is beyond anything we could have imagined. Our wedding was perfect because of him. He exceeded every expectation and gave us more than we ever dreamed possible. He is, without question, the most talented, kind, and extraordinary musician and DJ we have ever met.
