Still, I was nervous—past professional makeup experiences often left me feeling unlike myself, so hiring an artist was one of the more daunting parts of wedding planning. Cat completely changed that for me with her thoughtful communication leading up to the wedding, during the trial, and on the wedding day itself. The trial set clear expectations, gave us the chance to discuss my comfort levels and preferences, and allowed Cat to really get to know my features. She took meticulous notes, photos, and videos to ensure every angle and lighting were considered. On the wedding day, she refined the look slightly from the trial, and the result was even better than I imagined. For reference, I scheduled my trial the same week as the wedding, which I highly recommend—it kept details fresh for both Cat and me and minimized variables. Cat and her hairstylist arrived at our hotel suite at 7 a.m., and the morning flew by. Cat was warm, conversational, and attentive—always checking in and inviting me to share input, which made me feel part of the process. My makeup held up flawlessly through happy tears, hugs, dancing, and plenty of sweating, with just one lipstick touch-up before the ceremony. I felt radiant, confident, and—most importantly—like myself. She also styled my hair beautifully into a low bun, even teaching my sister how to place and remove my veil, and secured it so well that it stayed perfect all night despite all the movement. I would wholeheartedly recommend Cat to my family, friends, and especially Asian brides who may be hesitant about professional makeup. She made me feel truly beautiful on one of the most important days of my life, and I already look forward to booking her again for future special occasions. Go Cat! He was very fairly priced and offered everything we were looking for, including CO2 guns, a Photobooth with an attendant, and the ability to personalize the Photobooth experience for our guests — all of which ran incredibly smoothly. It was helpful to have all of these things through one single vendor rather than multiple people to coordinate. What truly set him apart was how intentional and thoughtful he was with our music. He helped us create a detailed plan that included songs we loved, songs we didn’t want played, and the exact timing for everything. Most importantly, he seamlessly blended both of our cultures throughout the night in a way that felt natural and effortless. Our dance floor was full the entire night. He also communicated directly with our wedding planners to ensure the timeline was perfect, which allowed the day to flow without a single hiccup. “Our wedding day & the planning leading up to it was absolutely perfect and we can't thank the Chicago Winery staff (especially our event manager Hulda!) enough for making our wedding come to life exactly as we dreamed it. The venue is gorgeous, our guests raved about the food/appetizers/cocktails/etc. and it is truly a night we will never forget. Being able to go outside to the cocktail hour terrace was also a huge plus to get people moving around and seeing new parts of the venue while the Chicago Winery staff transformed the whole space from ceremony to reception. We worked with Amy right after booking the space and she was so helpful in being a resource for us to bounce questions off of as we began planning. We utilized a lot of the preferred vendors (florist, DJ, etc.) that Chicago Winery recommended and they did not disappoint. Our event manager, Hulda, was soooooo helpful throughout the last 6 months of preparations and as our day-of manager - we could not have done it without her. She made sure the whole day was perfect and everything timeline-wise lined up exactly as we envisioned it. Can't recommend Chicago Winery enough! 1000000/10”

“Chicago couples looking for a gorgeous venue with natural light and a massive bar, THE most helpful and responsive wedding planners, and delicious cocktails and food, you've found your perfect match with Walden! We toured Walden in June 2024 and we couldn't help but compare every other venue we looked at to Walden because Walden was - simply put - the BEST! Even before we officially signed with Walden, we felt very taken care of by Maria who gave us our tour and she assured us we'd feel that way with our planners and day-of coordinators, which she was spot on about! We were super impressed by the physical space (the tall ceilings! brick walls! gorgeous ceremony and getting ready space!) and by the bartender-to-guest ratio (highly recommend asking about this at venues if you have a lively guest list like we did!), but our Walden planners are what made our day SO special and truly stress-free. Krystle and Katie Rose (our wedding planners) were thoughtful, professional, encouraging, creative and fun throughout the entire process. I remember them saying "we like to have our couples in a bubble on the day of" meaning they would be around to coordinate everything from steaming dresses, to making sure the bus knew where to park, to ensuring all of us ate, and more! Krystle and Katie Rose provided helpful deadlines, documents (like a "details" check list) and vendor recommendations to us throughout the planning process, and I appreciated their honesty when it came to vendors we were inquiring about. They truly are experts in their craft and were such a joy to work with. I don't think I ever waited more than 24 hours for a response from either of them. Day of, there were several coordinators at all times, so we felt very taken care of. The food and drinks were out of this world. We got so many compliments from guests about the appetizers, the flow of dinner, and the kind bartenders. Another perk of Walden is that it hosts an incredible, unique tasting for couples. Walden hosts several couples and their guests at the same time, so you can see what the space looks like when it's full, you can see how accommodating the catering and bar staff are, and you can sample the delicious food and drinks. The location can't be beat, especially for guests staying downtown and if you want to take photos in the city with your wedding party. We know we'll be back at Walden for future weddings since so many of our friends were SO impressed by the venue and staff. Thanks, Walden!!!”

Blair founded BW Studio after hosting a number of non-profit events and finding herself completely immersed in the process. Once she realized her knack for event organization and planning, the studio was quickly born.

“Working with Blair was probably the best decision we made during the process of planning our wedding. My husband and I both work 9-5 corporate jobs, and we knew that we needed to bring someone onto our “wedding team” that would help keep us on track with all of the milestones during the wedding planning process. From the get-go, over our 15-month planning period, Blair was always transparent about timing and was a master of following up regarding timelines, without ever badgering us or coming across as controlling. She spent over an hour discussing budgets with us and our families early on, to make sure that everything we planned stayed in the budget range that we’d all agreed upon. This was especially helpful during our venue and vendor selection process. She helped us find that blew our socks off, and also found us the most wonderful florist (@thelocalpetaler) who was able to provide us way more bang for our buck than any florist we’d be able to find on our own - a huge advantage. While we had our venue already picked out, Blair was able to recommend a food and beverage package with an available catering company that fell delivered us fantastic food and a premium beverage package that fit our budget.   Leading up to the wedding, Blair was also a master in helping us coordinate our wedding day planning including family photos, transportation e.g. coordinating our bus between multiple hotels and the venue while making it easy for us to just focus on ourselves. The peace of mind that Blair brought us throughout the planning process, week of, and day of our wedding made having our wedding a cakewalk rather than a headache. Spending the money to hire Blair was the best decision we could’ve made for our wedding!”

She helped us feel more confident about the thousands of small details in the entire process, from our first Zoom meeting with her to the engagement photo shoot to the final shots on our wedding day 2. She is incredibly thorough as a communicator. We never had any question about what she needed or what she was doing before, during, or after the ceremony. And she was even very communicative via email with our moms(!) 3. She is so organized but also so creative. She kept our wedding day smooth by planning out all the posed shots needed, and she got all photos back to us in an always impressive timeframe. But she was also always open for a surprising shot or a little experiment. It made her work feel even more personal 4. She was a rock star on our wedding day, if you couldn’t tell.
